Richard Liu is the founder of JD.com. Prior to being called JD.com, the company consisted of several storefronts, and it had names such as Jingdong and 360buy LTD. The name JD.com would be used in 2004. It would be during this time Liu would switch the use of storefronts to operating the business online. Liu would move JD.com to use its’ own delivery system to reduce the amount of lost or damaged goods. A delivery system that was successful for the several counties of China it served.
Liu ensured JD.com had quality products, and this led to improving trust with its’ customers. The trust and honesty was a factor that influenced the growth of JD.com. Liu has been responsible for the success of e-commerce in China. Liu used his knowledge regarding logistics and artificial intelligence to help the customers of JD.com. Fortune added Liu to a list of great Leaders. Liu was ranked 48th on Fortune’s list.
